If you happen to have a Yamaha DragStar 950 in your garage, then you will want to take an interest in this recall that affects 233 units from the 2020 and 2021 model years.
The recall focuses on how the engine cases of the Yamaha DragStar 950 may leak oil onto the rear tire of the motorcycle.
According to recall documents, the production lot for the engine cases may have had the incorrect amount of mold release agent applied to them.
As such, the engine cases in this lot were possibly subjected to variation in temperature during production. Thus, there is a possibility that the engine cases may be porous near a bolt location at the bottom of the engine case.
The problem is identifiable if owners notice oil seepage on engine, small droplets on ground beneath the unit when parked.
As a result, Yamaha DragStar 950 owners are advised to not ride their motorcycles until they are repaired. Yamaha Dealers will inspect and replace the engine, as necessary, free of charge.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 29, 2021.
