Welcome to round three of the Indian Motorcycle brake recall for the Scout and Scout Bobber motorcycles, where we now see the American brand recalling 2,742 motorcycles in an attempt to correct this defect.
After the first and second instances of this recall, we see that at the core of this trio of recalls is still a manufacturing issue that allows air to get into the ABS components on the motorcycles.
Affected models (1,268 Scout motorcycles and 1,474 Scout Bobber motorcycles) may have had a small amount of air present in the system, which may cause a soft brake lever / pedal feel and a decrease in brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
Accordingly, Indian will notify owners, and Indian dealers will bleed the brake fluid in the front and rear ABS systems to evacuate the air, free of charge.
On the manufacturing side, the brake system assembly process has been corrected in order to ensure that all air has been evacuated from the ABS. In addition, Polaris has made hardware improvements to address assembly process effectiveness.
Of note though, Indian has not submitted a start time for this recall, which as we mentioned, is an expansion of NHTSA Recall number 19V-156.
