Zero Motorcycles is recalling a bevy of its electric motorcycle models, though only 64 units are affected by this recall with the NHTSA.
As such, the recall concerns the 2021 model year SR, S, DSR, DS, FX and FXS motorcycles, built between August 19th, 2020 and October 5th, 2020.
At the core of the issue is the DC-DC converter on these affected models, which may have insufficient power output margin to operate effectively.
If a DC-DC converter does not have enough power output margin to support all of the bike’s power demands, it may temporarily shut off when its power capacity is exceeded, without warning to the rider.
The instruments, lights, indicators, and any accessories that are connected to the accessory outlet could also fail to function.
To remedy the issue, Zero will notify affected owners, and Zero dealers will replace the DC-DC converter, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin November 2, 2020.
