MotoGP: Nicky Hayden Not Racing in Indianapolis GP

UPDATE: The news unfortunately seems to be official. Hayden will miss racing in the Indy GP.

One of three riders to crash hard in Saturday’s MotoGP qualifying session, Nicky Hayden’s participation in his home Grand Prix seems very unlikely after his high-side in the final turn at the IMS road course. Flying high and landing hard, Hayden was knocked unconscious by the crash, and was said to be incoherent after the crash.

Suffering an injury to his hand as well as his head, Hayden’s arm was x-rayed and his head was CAT scanned. While the CAT scan came back negative, the x-rays showed Hayden had suffered two small fractures to his right hand. Because of those injuries he has been ruled unfit to ride in tomorrow’s race.

On the lighter-side of this story, Hayden was taken to Methodist Hospital here in Indianapolis, where he reportedly saw Casey Stoner getting examined as well, and thought the two riders had been involved in the same crash.

Looking forward to competing at his home Grand Prix earlier this week, we are sure both Nicky and his fans will be disappointed by his absence tomorrow. We wish the Kentucky Kid a speedy recovery and lots of cute nurses.

what in the world is going on with indy? It seems the track is biting everyone who pushes right in the arse…I’ve already seen the haters from different fan bases bashing on each other and riders.

metacarpal fractures are the bones that extend from the wrist to the fingers…i.e. the main ones in the hand but not “finger bones”…typically these are aligned and then “pinned”…once performed and immobilzed they heal readily…i suspect Nick may be back on the duck in CZ…..

It’s even harder for the fans because he is the nicest guy out there, he never had a bad word to say about his fellow rider. This track needs to go

And what Tweeker came up with the idea of having Arron Yates ride as a wild card? As if it’s not bad enough watching the CRT’s and Edwards getting lapped, but now this? Somebody get the hook….It’s embarrassing.
