After very publicly imploding part-way through the 2012 season with its four-rider team, which included a dust-up between the Czech team and French Rider Sylvain Guintoli, it would seem that Team Effenbert Liberty Racing is ready to give things another go, though on a much smaller scale.
Accordingly, after missing the season-opener at Phillip Island, Liberty Racing will once again compete in the World Superbike Championship, and plans to campaign the rest of the 2013 season with Mark Aitchison on a Ducati Superibke 1098R.
Racing on a budget seems to be the name of the game now, as the Czech squad will use last year’s equipment, and surely signed Aitchison with favorable terms, since the Aussie saw his British Superbike Championship ride with Splitlath Redmond Aprilia disintegrate at the last minute.
Since Team Effenbert Liberty has had no testing or development time, the use of the 1098R platform might actually work to the team’s advantage, as the v-twin superbike has had more than a few seasons in WSBK, and is a fairly honed race package.
“We are very proud to be able to line up our Ducati 1098R also this year – we want to face the championship with determination,” said Liberty Racing Team Owner Mario Betuccio The 2012 season for us was particularly hard and therefore this year we have the opportunity for rewrite positively our future.”
“We have a lot of trust in Mark, that I desire to personally thank for having accepted to belong to our team helping us to realize, with determination, our project. There are all the right bases to face in constructive way the appointment with the World SBK Championship,” he continued.
