If you like your sport bikes racer-only, your v-twin cylinders over-square, and your livery in carbon and black, then we have got the bike for you: the Ducati 1199 Panigale RS13. Borgo Panigale’s 1199cc race bike is finally headed for World Superbike duty this coming season, and factory riders Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovini have been busy this off-season testing Ducati’s latest superbike in preparation of the season’s opener at Phillip Island in February.

Shaking things down at Mugello, Ducati Corse has put together a quick little teaser of the RS13 with Checa and Bayliss on-board. With development of the machine said to be “laborious” (to put it mildly), it will be interesting to see how competitive out of the gate the new Ducati superbike will be against the rest of the WSBK field. One thing is known though, the Ducati 1199 Panigale RS13 is wicked light, especially now that WSBK has dropped the weight penalty for v-twins.

i dont believe its going to be as durable as previous models

  • David Dungan

    Really, why?

  • qwerty

How is it possible to make such a short video of this bike?

  • Emilio

You’re right. I’d like to see more slowmo full lean action and good full throttle audio. I hope it’s competitive.

  • pete

more more more!!! and where’s the middleweight version???

  • gibbo97

I don’t see Badovini in the video…. I do see Troy Bayliss though….

  • Faust

But you won’t see Bayliss in WSBK this year…. You will see Badovini though…..

Another Aussie wasting talent like Casey. Leaving the game too soon. Troy still has that look in his eyes!! He could go out and kick arse now in WSBK if he wanted.

  • Gutterslob

Motonut, I agree. His PR says no but the eyes say YES!!

  • I’ts the edge and the injury… We all the top riders are the ones closest to crashing and Bayliss did his fair share. While he still has the look, I don’t think he wants to heal anymore… I wish he was there, just because and yes, I think he could still be tops, but I don’t want to see him injured trying win on a slower or less capable machine either. He is NOT someone who will ride around in back…

  • Westward

Yeah, where is the 899 version or whatever the cc’s are going to be…

Can’t wait for the baby Panigale, personally. I loved the Panigale I test-rode, but it’s just overkill for the street.

I miss the BOOMING sound from the “old” 1198 engine and it’s high mount cans.
This bike sounds good but not 1198 good.
The new OverSquare mill sounds too high pitched ( Japan-ized ? ).
That been said…u won’t see me kicking an 1199 out of bed or the like, LOL.
Or missing the timing belts and the other “improved upon or switched for reliability/longer service intervals and else” components.

  • MikeD

Yes, bring a more “affordable”, less rabid, ligther Baby Pani… (^_^)
Im not a ONE %er…..YET. LOL.

  • A 500cc variety would work for me.

    Yeah. I’m a dreamer.

  • smiler

can you buy a dry clutch simulator noise?

I will definitely try one of these this year.
