Ducati Superbike 848 EVO Corse for 2012

Asphalt & Rubber has learned that Ducati will debut a Corse version of the Ducati Superbike 848 EVO for the 2012 model year. Similar to the Ducati Superbike 1198 S Corse SE & Ducati Superbike 1198 R Corse SE, the Superbike 848 EVO Corse will feature Ducati’s tricolor corse paint scheme, and a bevy of go-fast performance parts. Expected to have at least a slipper clutch and Termignoni racing exhaust, it is also presumable that Ducati will add-on its Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Ducati Data Acquisition (DDA), and round out the package with carbon fiber bits and premium suspension pieces.

Teased at the Ducati North America dealers meeting, Ducati is expected to debut the Special Edition later this year at the EICMA show in November. With the Ducati Superbike 848 EVO one of, if not the, best selling motorcycles in Ducati’s arsenal, the Italian company is surely keen on offering more models in the 849cc format at varying prices. Like the Superbike 1198 S/R Corse SEs, we don’t expect the Ducati Superbike 848 EVO Corse SE to come with an aluminum fuel tank, but like its predecessors the Corse’d 848 could prove to be potent purchase at a competitive price point.

We’ll have to wait and see what parts Ducati includes with the model, and where how the Italian prices the 2012 Ducati Superbike 848 EVO Corse in comparison to the rest of the 2012 line-up. Stay tuned as we get more info leading up to the EICMA show. Until then, the above motorcycle, belonging to an A&R reader, is the only Ducati Superbike 848 EVO Corse we know to exist.

  • I get a chuckle out of Ducati every time the make another LE, but at the same time I think it equally as funny that their 848 middle weight is a mere 3cc’s shy of the original ground breaking Ducati Superbike- The 851. Kudos to Ducati for selling thousand upon thousands of LE motorcycles over the years. Long live the 888SPO.

    I see…so…How much longer will this model will be milked ? No rumors of an 849 yet ?

    Will the new gear driven cam motor be only for the 1000cc+ bike ? Will it be eventually scaled down and used on the 84(9)? and others ?

    The Diavel, Multi, StreetFighter and 848 SEEM to be charing the same engine architecture…so more less there’s a case to keep it and keep upgrading it, i think.

    Does anyone think that Ducati will create a mini-me of the 1199 as the 848 replacement ?…down to frame-less and all ?

    good idea, the 848 is at least 4 grand cheaper than a 1198 but a little plain. The Corse edition will make this very desirable. I would rather ride this than a Japanese 600.

  • No 849 anytime soon. I’d put it at 50/50 for a 2012 EICMA showing. Judging from where Ducati is going, I think we’ll see the Superbikes retain one motor, while the other water-cooler models have a different, less-maintenance involved version, but that’s just me guessing.

    All they need to do is take a stock 848, give it Ohlins supension front and rear, lighter wheels, and DTC and you’s have a stonking bike.

    Bring back the “R” models for the middleweight superbike range!!!!

    As others haver said, and 848R with DTC, quick-shifter, slipper dry clutch, Ohlins front and rear, lighter wheels, the top Brembos and a full race exhaust in a box would be a track junkies dream.

  • not feeling it personally. The 848 is a entry level Superbike model. The market for a hotted up 848 that knocks on the door of 1198 pricing is infinitesimal.

    Confirmed: Goodtimes Motorsports in Sacramento noted – He spoke to Ducati representatives yesterday about the 2012’s coming out. 848 Corse will have the livery that the 1198 Corse has. The only additions will be a quick shifter, traction control and DDA. No ohlins shocks, no aluminum tank etc. The MSRP will be $14,999 or $1k more than the black, red and white 2012 848s. All the 2012 848s will MSRP at $13,999, so you won’t have to pay more (in theory) for any color.
