Shift Racing Discontinuing Street Line of Apparel

Asphalt & Rubber has just gotten word that Shift Racing is about to announce its exit out of the street side of its apparel business, instead focusing its efforts on its dirt line in the future. Founded in 1997, Shift has been making gear for street riders for five years now, and is the edgier apparel division of parent company Fox Head Inc.

According to Shift, “Fox has decided to focus its efforts on the core product lines of the world’s premier MX Racewear and Protective equipment.” We expect a full announcement shortly, but it looks like the diminished motorcycle market has claimed another victim.

That’s unfortunate. I own a pair of Shift Havoc street pants that have served me very well. They were the first one’s I found that combined leather in all the critical places with textile where you need breathability. Oh well.

I have a pair of their Fuel shoes and they are fantastic! They offer better protection than sneakers and are comfortable enough to wear all day at work. That’s hard to find. Seriously bummed.

Very Said… I have a Shift M1 jacket that held my organs and bones in place quite nicely when I went down….

Well, just me personally but the brand never appealed to me, seemed like an ICON wannabe, and I don’t do the whole street thug “look at me I’m hardcore” look.

That’s just how I perceived it.
