The Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen Readies Its EICMA Debut

Husqvarna says that it will be debuting two new street bikes at the upcoming EICMA show, along with one new concept bike. We have known for some time that one of those machines would include the Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen, the Swedish brand’s neo-retro take on the KTM 390 Duke platform.

Teasing us now with a short video of this “white arrow”, we get our first obfuscated glimpses of the 2017 Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen, though we doubt the bike has changed much from its concept form.

Husqvarna is carving out its own unique look with the Vitpilen and Svartpilen models, which will range in size from 125cc to 690cc – all with single-cylinder engines.

While they all might be repurpose KTM models, the look and feel of the Husqvarna street bikes is entirely unique, not just between KTM and Husqvarna (the two brands now sharing a roof), but in the motorcycle industry as a whole.

A direct response to the post-authentic wares we’ve seen from other brands, we are very excited to see what the Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen and its ilk look like in the flesh, in their final form.

We think younger riders will be engaged by their very modern twist on old classic lines, while veteran riders will be drawn by finally seeing something fresh in the two-wheeled space.
