Track day and racing fans in the supersport category will be happy to hear that the Yamaha YZF-R6 will continue to be offered as a track-only model for the 2022 model year, with the tuning fork brand bring two variations to market next year.
2022 Yamaha R6 RACE
The Yamaha YZF-R6 RACE is a track-day focused machine, and is basically the street bike without the necessary equipment to be street legal.
That is to say, Yamaha has removed items like the headlight, mirrors, license plate bracket, etc, in order to make a machine that is ready to rip on your local closed circuit.
You can get the 2022 Yamaha YZF-R6 in any color you want, as long as it’s black, and you better like gold-colored forks as well.
All of the components are the same as the old street bike, which means KYB suspension, radially mounted four-piston calipers at the front, with 320mm discs, and Yamaha’s stock electronics package.

2022 Yamaha R6 GYTR
For those looking for a little bit more out of the box, and a turnkey racing solution, Big Blue will also have available the 2022 Yamaha R6 GYTR.
As the name implies, this bike is fitted with no shortage of Yamaha’s genuine aftermarket accessories, which turn the already potent Yamaha YZF-R6 into a ready-made track weapon.
