The stylish MV Agusta Superveloce model is getting some updates for the 2021 model year, along with an extra letter.
The big news is the Euro5 homologation for the 800cc sport bike, with a plethora of small changes to get the MV Agusta Superveloce across the finish line for the stricter European emission standards.
There is also the new white-clad MV Agusta Superveloce S model, which adds a few stylish flares for its extra letter.
All of the new Superveloce models benefit from an upgraded chassis, which uses redesigned frame plates that increase torsional and longitudinal stiffness.
The suspension has also been fiddled upon, with new settings from the factory on the front forks.
The engine still pumps out 144hp (108 kW) with 65 lbs•ft of torque (88 Nm), which is no small feat considering the restrictions put on the 800cc three-cylinder motor with the Euro5 regulations.
To meet this standard, MV Agusta had to employ DLC treatment on the valve guides, use new titanium valves, and redesign the entire exhaust system, including its now slash-cut exhaust tips.
MV Agusta also says that larger injectors are now used (for an extra +0.5 bar in pressure), and that the ECU has been updated to accommodate all of these mechanical changes. Lastly, MV says that the new oil cooler increases cooling efficiency by 5%.
A bit of time has been spent on the clutch as well, with a more robust clutch basket on offering, which makes the bike more manageable and quieter in operation. The EAS quickshifter software is now in its 3rd revision as well, and offers smoother and more precise shifting, so says the Italian brand.
The upgrades don’t stop there for the electronics though, burying the lead a little bit, MV Agusta has finally added an inertial measurement platform to its three-cylinder platform, using the IMU from e-Novia from Milan, Italy.
The new IMU means a new traction control, wheelie control, and launch control features in the software package. Meanwhile, the new cornering ABS feature is handled by Continental.
The dash, with its 5″ TFT display has also been revised, with a new phone integration system that includes screen mirroring, via the MV Ride App.
For the MV Agusta Superveloce S, there are two stand-out changes that catch your eye immediately: the pearl white paint on the fairings, and the tubeless wire-spoke wheels.
The Superveloce S also features a brown Alcantara seat, and a race kit which adds the option of a single-seat tail section, asymmetrical Arrow racing exhaust, and updated ECU.
