MV Agusta continues to push out details and photos of its 2013 models ahead of next week’s EICMA show, giving us our first proper look of the 2013 MV Agusta Rivale 800. Sharing its 798cc three-cylinder motor with the MV Agusta Brutale 800, the MV Agusta Rivale 800 is the Varese brand’s take on the niche hypermotard market.

Giving us already a glimpse of the MV Agusta Rivale with the company’s concept sketch of the machine, it is clear from the finished product that MV Agusta has channeled a great deal of the Ducati Hypermotard in the Rivale, with the two bike’s sharing a very similar visage.

Based heavily on the chassis and motor of the Brutale 800, it doesn’t surprise us that the MV Agusta Rivale 800 tips the scales at 375 lbs and is making 123hp at the crank. Accounting for that extra 8 lbs of heft, the 2013 MV Agusta Rivale 800 comes with MV Agusta’s stout MVICS electronics package that features an eight-way adjustable traction control system, ride-by-wire, three engine maps, and a bevy of other systems.

A good-looking, though maybe derivative design, MV Agusta hopes the Rivale will compete well against Ducati’s yet-to-be-released water-cooled Hypermotard, which should also slot-in around the 800cc mark as well. Ducati will have to get aggressive with its pricing though, because the 2013 MV Agusta Rivale 800 is selling for €10,990, and is supposed to hit dealers in the second-half of 2013.
