2011 Aprilia Tuareg 1200 Rumors Heat Up

After letting the cat out of the bag about the 2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, speculation almost immediately began about what other machines in the 2011 Aprilia line-up could be using the 1200cc mill as well. While we still await word on a Shiver 1200, the company from Noale seems set to debut a restart to its well-aged Tuareg line. Expected to be unveiled at the EICMA show later this year, the 2011 Aprilia Tuareg 1200 was hinted at by Roberto Colaninno, head of the Piaggio Group, during the company’s Milan HQ launch party.

According to the folks MotoBlog.it, who were present at the Milan event, the Tuareg 1200 is set to be based off the same Shiver platform, with a 750cc variant as well. The adventure bike will also have the same 1200cc motor as found in the 2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, giving Aprilia a large-displacement adventure bike offering that can compete with the BMW GS and KTM Adventure lines. Like the Dorsoduro 1200, we can expect the new Tuareg 1200 to be a bit on the porkish side, as seems to be the case with all the bikes built off the Shiver platform, but we suspect the 2011 Aprilia Tuareg 1200 will benefit from Aprilia’s new traction control system (ATC) and anti-lock brakes.

Other EICMA rumors from Aprilia include a production version of the company’s Dakar bike, the Aprilia RXV Rally Racer, as well as the highly teased 2011 Aprilia Tuono V4. Expect to see the slightly refined 2011 Aprilia RSV4 there as well, along with your favorite motorcycle blog, Asphalt & Rubber. Like last year, we’ll be in Milan to bring you all the info from the showroom floor.
