UPDATE: Get your first glimpse of the MV Agusta F3 here.

In what can only be described as a terse press release, MV Agusta has released two teaser photos of its upcoming MV Agusta F3, the three-cylinder supersport bike that Claudio Castiglioni hopes will save his company. Known to be using a three-cylinder motor, it has been previously reported that the MV Agusta F3 would be a 675cc machine, just like the Triumph Daytona 675. However the Italian brand has confirmed that it will be using a 600cc displacement for its street machine, while giving us a glimpse of the bike without its F4 camouflage.

We can’t see much from the photos we’ve been given, but it looks like Motociclismo.it got a full series of shots. Unfortunately, the photos that would show the front profile and side-mounted exhaust have been blurred, making those about as useful as ours. What we can see is that the undertail exhaust is out, and that the bike has at least a partial trellis frame. The F3’s fairings look very nice, with gill slits on the side for cooling. MV has also found a way for the iconic tail section to look in-place, even without its four exhaust tips underneath.

MV Agusta hopes to sell the F3 for €9,000 in the EU, which should come out to be $9,000 here as well in the United States, if MV Agusta’s previous pricing schemes remain in place. Castiglioni hopes to sell 10,000 units next year, which is a lofty goal, but at this price point the Italian company might just pull it off. Expect to see a naked version of the F3 sometime soon, with a possible unveiling of the “Brutalina” at the EICMA show in November.

Either the tail section is tiny, or that test rider needs to lay off the canoli. Looks great, and it will be interesting to see where the MSRP falls for the US.

  5. Jaybond says:

Can the triple 600cc challenges 4 cyl 600cc, horsepower wise ? MV Agusta must be very brave…

  6. MikeD says:

I think both engines on the “same” state of tune (gas flow of the head, Cams lift-duration, reciprocating mass, etc) the I-4 WILL SPANK the I-3…I would like to say because of more cylinders firing at the same time(rpms)…like a 2stroker(I-4) vs a 4stroker(I-3).

…almost positive it has a “noticeable” advantage on the Torque Department down low tho as each I-3 Cylinder packs 200cc against 150cc on the I-4…more air-gas mix=stronger xplosion=twisting force=torque.

All of te above was a totally un-educataded opinion. Hope someone more brigth can shine more ligth into it. (^_^ )

So when is this beauty going to show up on American soil?
