Italian electric motorcycle manufacturer has two announcements for us today. The first is one is perhaps not that shocking (figuratively), because the Energica Ego and Energica Eva motorcycle have both been homologated as Euro4 compliant.
The second piece of news is a bit more shocking (literally) though, as both the Ego and Eva will see power increases for the 2017 model year. As such, the 2017 Energica Ego will see a 145hp peak power figure, while the 2017 Energica Eva will top the sheets at 108hp.
Both figures are maximum constant power figures, and they correspond to increases in torque as well. Accordingly, the Ego now makes 147 lbs•ft of torque (up from 143 lbs•ft), and the Eva makes 132 lbs•ft (up from 125 lbs•ft).
Outright power has never been the issue with Energica’s electric motorcycles though, with both the Ego and Evo showing more than ample grunt when you twist the throttle (read our review of the Energica Ego here).
Hopefully for the coming model years, Energica can begin to trim some weight off its motorcycles, which would greatly increase the performance of its motorcycles. A quick stroll through the comments section also suggests that a less polarizing design perspective might help sales as well.
