Every year, the EICMA show awards its “most beautiful bike” of the Milan event, and every year the winner is unsurprisingly an Italian machine.

Whether you attribute that to the Italian manufacturers being superior in their motorcycle designs, or if perhaps there is a home-team bias in the EICMA crowd, we will let you decide for yourself.

More often that not though, we take umbrage with EICMA’s picks, as the selection seems to rarely stray from a couple Italian marques, while also overlooking a more worthy recipient.

That is fine and all, and this year’s pick, the MV Agusta Superveloce Ago is a very good looking motorcycle – no doubt about it.

But 2021 is one of those years where we differ once again from the EICMA voting masses, as we would have picked the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello instead.

The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello can lay claim to a number of firsts. The first production motorcycle to offer active aeros. The first Moto Guzzi to feature semi-active suspension…an IMU…cornering ABS…quickshifter…liquid-cooling…

Well, it’s the first Moto Guzzi with just about anything modern, but it is the adaptive aerodynamics package that should really turn heads, and it is interesting to see the Piaggio Group featuring this technology on the Eagle brand, rather than the sport-focused Aprilia name, which first teased the idea.

Moto Guzzi is celebrating its 100th birthday this year, and the commemorate the occasion, the Eagle brand has a special motorcycle debuting at this year’s EICMA show.

We are getting an early look at the machine though, as Moto Guzzi also announced today that it was going to undertake a massive overhaul of its headquarters in Mandello del Lario, and is using the bike’s teasing to help communicate that message.

The Italian brand isn’t giving away too many details on the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello just yet however, beyond what we can see, which isn’t an inconsequential amount.

Last week, Moto Guzzi marked its 100th birthday of making motorcycle – a pretty significant achievement for a motorcycle brand – and the Italian brand showed that even after a century of being in business, they still have some tricks up their sleeve.

We say this because Moto Guzzi casually snuck a glimpse of a future motorcycle in its plethora of anniversary materials, and it doesn’t seem like too many people noticed.

The photo in questions is a relative low-res glimpse of a motorcycle, which of course has been further obscured through Photoshop manipulation.

When the Moto Guzzi V85 TT debuted, we speculated that the new 850cc engine could show up in other models. Now, it seems that day has finally come as we get word that the Moto Guzzi V7 is getting a hefty update for the 2021 model year.

Using a variation of the transverse v-twin engine found on the V85 TT, the 2021 Moto Guzzi V7 makes 65hp (up from 52hp), with 54 lbs•ft (73 Nm), in this street-bike friendly tune.

Oberdan Bezzi has an interesting concept for us today, taking a peak into the world of Italian heritage at the motorcycle factory in Mandello del Lario, Italy.

We are of course talking about Moto Guzzi, and the bike in question is an idea that is built off the Moto Guzzi V85 platform, which we know Moto Guzzi is keen to use in a variety of motorcycles, not just the current V85 TT adventure-touring bike.

Dubbed the “Black Eagle”, the concept shows a sporty usage of the air-cooled 853cc transverse 90° v‐twin, with the bike using a half-fairing design, clip-ons, solo seat, and copious amounts of carbon fiber.

The Moto Guzzi V85 TT motorcycle has been a big hit for the Italian brand, exhibiting the happy merger of Moto Guzzi’s retro flare with the popular ADV bike scene.

Moreover, the Moto Guzzi V85 TT is a solid bike to ride, and we gave it solid reviews when we rode in Sardinia last year. But, what if you want to hit the dirt a bit harder than this 90/10 bike provides?

Italian designer Oberdan Bezzi has been thinking this thought (as have many of you), and he has penned what he calls the Moto Guzzi V90 TTR concept.

When we rode the Moto Guzzi V85 TT in Sardinia, it was made clear that the Italian brand saw its new 850cc air-cooled v-twin engine as more than a one-trick pony.

Part of Moto Guzzi’s ability to offer the V85 TT at such an aggressive price is centered around the larger plans at hand in Mandello del Lario.

Namely, this strategy centers around several models sharing Moto Guzzi’s new engine platform, and it seems we are set to see the next iteration of the V85 lineup later this year.

This is because rumors are starting about Moto Guzzi debut its next V85 model at November’s EICMA show in Milan.

This latest recall comes to us from the Piaggio Group Americas, as it affects a number of models from the Aprilia and Moto Guzzi lineups.

The issue stems from the front brake master cylinder, which may drag or inadvertently apply the drags, which can cause the motorcycle to suddenly stop and/or stall. This may happen without the rear brake light illuminating.

Specifically, this recall affects the Moto Guzzi Audace 1400 and Eldorado 1400 (2016-2018), Moto Guzzi California 1400 (2017-2018), Moto Guzzi MGX 21 Bagger (2017), Aprilia Mana 850 (2013-2014), Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 (2014-2016), Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 (2018-2019), and Aprilia Shiver 900 (2018) motorcycles.
